San Antonio Zoo Adoption

Papio Wines and Lorikeet Sparking Announce San Antonio Zoo Adoption

(San Antonio, TX, Sept. 1, 2005) - Papio Wines of California and Lorikeet Sparkling Wines of Australia just became proud parents of a spider monkey and a pair of lorikeet birds at the San Antonio Zoo.

In partnership with the zoo's Adopt-an-Animal program, Papio Wines and Lorikeet Sparkling will donate a portion of wine sale proceeds to the San Antonio Zoo. The donation will contribute valuable resources to the feeding and upkeep of the animals at the zoo. Also, in conjunction with Papio Wines and Lorikeet Sparkling Wines, the San Antonio Zoo is offering special $100 spider monkey and lorikeet adoption packages to interested individuals, groups or businesses.

In addition to the adoption, Papio Wines and Lorikeet Sparkling are also donating a portion of all sales to the San Antonio Zoo Adopt-an-Animal program for each case of wine sold from June 2005 to June 2006.

"I think it is wonderful that Papio and Lorikeet wines approached us about this program and are generous to support the Adopt-An-Animal Program," said Hugh Dolly, San Antonio Zoo's Development Supervisor. "It is unique for a business to approach us about this opportunity and their participation is a really nice boost for our program."

Consumers will also benefit from a coupon for $1 off admission to the San Antonio Zoo displayed wherever Papio and Lorikeet Sparkling wines are sold (where legal). The $1 off coupon is limited to $1 per person and covers up to six people per coupon.

Since brand inception in 2003, Papio, which is Latin for baboon, has been dedicated to helping the conservation of primates worldwide with its ongoing monetary support of the African Wildlife Foundation. The recent partnership with the Adopt-an-Animal Program at the San Antonio Zoo is a strong addition to the Papio Wines philanthropic program. Papio Wines offer consumers four great varietals including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Suggested retail price is $6.99.

The Lorikeet Sparkling brand was introduced into the United States in 2004 and has quickly become known for its great taste and endearing Lorikeet label. The recent partnership with the San Antonio Zoo Adopt-an-Animal program allows Lorikeet Sparkling to pay homage to its namesake while making a difference in local zoos. The Lorikeet brand offers consumers three great sparkling wine styles including Brut, Extra Dry and Shiraz and retails for a suggested price of $9.99.

Papio and Lorikeet Wines are proud to support the San Antonio 's animal care and conservation efforts and you now can help the zoo as well. The "Adopt-An-Animal" program is open to individuals, businesses and clubs. Participants can adopt an animal for one year and receive an adoption kit complete with an official certificate, a fact sheet about the new adoption and your name on the Adopt-An-Animal board in the Zoo for the time of the adoption. Adoptions of $100 or more also receive an 8 X 10 color photograph of the animal and an invitation to an annual "parent's night" event.

The San Antonio Zoo is home to more than 3,500 animals representing 750 species and is dedicated to providing the highest standards of care for all of the animal and plant collections. For 91 years, the collective efforts of dedicated individuals have helped the San Antonio Zoo become one of the best in the nation.
